The pomegranate featured in this border design is sometimes referred to as the forbidden fruit of The Garden of Eden, but in Christian symbolism the fruit, broken or bursting open, represents the fullness of Jesus' suffering and resurrection.
We discovered this pomegranate design in the
Embroidery Pattern Catalogue, a publication offering iron-on embroidery transfers that was published in the mid to late 1800s by the Thomas Brown & Sons company of Manchester, England.
When digitizing for machine embroidery we attempted to stay as true to the original design as possible.
