The names of the months of the Jewish calendar are actually Babylonian month names and were adopted during the time of Ezra, after the return from the Babylonian exile around 459 BCE.
The first month of Nissan is in the spring, when Passover occurs. The Jewish New Year is in Tishri, the seventh month, and that is when the year number is increased.
This special set was designed by Bernice, my dearest and closest friend in the U.K.
