Cthulhu is a fictional entity created by writer H. P. Lovecraft and first introduced in the short story "The Call of Cthulhu". The story was published in the American pulp magazine Weird Tales in 1928 and would go on to have an immense cultural impact — one that is still growing today.
Cthulhu's appearance is described as looking something like an octopus, a dragon, and a caricature of human form but it's really hard to be sure because apparently gazing upon Cthulhu causes one to go insane.
The creatures in the Netflix film Bird Box are strongly implied to be related to Cthulhu.
