A First Generation Mustang, the 1965 model won the Tiffany Gold Medal for excellence in American design, the first automobile ever to do so. It was also featured in the Ford Motor Company sponsored TV series The F.B.I. with Efrem Zimbalist Jr., starring as Inspector Lewis Erskine, driving new Mustang convertibles during the first four seasons (1965–1969).
